Former Navy McKeen Street Housing Sales Booming; Prices Remain Affordable
We received a sales report last week on the former Navy housing at McKeen Street Landing for the first quarter of 2015. Since the summer of 2012, 128 units have been sold and there are 13 sales pending which is indicative of a strong spring market according to Coldwell Banker’s Dave Gleason who supplied the sales data.
Prices have been increased marginally to reflect this very high demand, and the interest in the project has not diminished. The Townhouse style was selling for close to $100,000 when sales started. Now price are at $114,500. Most buyers (73 percent) have an affordable household income under the $80,000 threshold and 56 percent of the home buyers are from the immediate Brunswick area. All of the major employers in the area are represented by the buyers.
