Media Advisory: Governor LePage to Detail Plan for ‘Open for Business Zones’

As he announced in his State of the State Address, Governor Paul R. LePage has submitted legislation to create “Open for Business Zones” in the State of Maine.  The proposal seeks to improve Maine’s overall competitiveness and the state’s ability to attract major private investment.

The legislation provides Maine with a mechanism for competing for major business expansion and job creation projects – defined as projects that result in investments of more than $50 million and the creation of at least 1,500 jobs.

“This bill puts Maine in the national conversation,” said Governor Paul R. LePage.  “It makes us more competitive when trying to attract businesses and create jobs. It helps earn Maine a seat at the table and better positions our great state as a place that is truly open for business.”
