Announcement from Accel Physical Therapy:

Dear Neighbor,

Accel Physical Therapy is very excited to provide highly skilled physical therapy services to the greater Brunswick community. We look forward to getting to know you and begin a strong working relationship.

Opening in June 2017, our vision is to create a premier practice offering a brand of physical therapy that is unmatched in the region. At Accel PT, the focus is centered around each patient. We offer individualized treatment plans designed to get patients better faster, with maximal improvement, and fewer visits.

Our core values and approach
By placing each patient at the center of their recovery, we work to create a warm professional relationship that allows them to know we are listening and understand their concerns, priorities, and goals. We work with each patient to develop a treatment plan that will work for them.

We use an evidence based approach that offers a combination of the most effective and highly skilled treatments available. We train our physical therapists to practice at the highest level of their licensing, allowing us the opportunity to gain the maximum benefit from each visit.

As an outcome oriented service, we track our patient’s satisfaction and their progress towards their goals using the gold standard, nationally recognized outcome measure called FOTO (Focus on Therapeutic Outcomes). FOTO allows us to compare ourselves nationally and internationally against our competitors and peers. This data has proven our track record and given us the opportunity to bring these services to the greater Brunswick community.

Finally, through educating our patients, we help to put the patient back in charge instead of feeling like a victim to their pain. This not only allows the patient to make progress between sessions, but also gives them the knowledge and tools to stay pain free long after they complete their course of physical therapy.

We look forward to partnering with you!

Scott and the entire Accel PT team

Scott Hannigan, DPT
Owner and Physical Therapist

Scott earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Vermont in 2009. Over the last 8 years, Scott has specialized in outpatient orthopaedics and sports injuries. A Maine native, he developed an interest in the physical therapy profession during his high school years through sports and exercise. An interest in human anatomy and treating an active population prompted him to pursue post-graduate education in physical therapy.

Scott has been practicing for the last 8 years in both Maine and Massachusetts, and he is thrilled to be opening Accel Physical Therapy in his home state of Maine. He has focused his post-graduate training in a multi-faceted approach to physical therapy, to provide the best possible care for each individual patient. He has training in spinal manipulation, instrument assisted soft-tissue mobilization, selective functional movement assessment, Mulligan Concept, custom orthotic fitting, Titleist Performance Institute, and more.

Scott truly believes that physical therapy should be centered around each individual patient, using evidence-based practices, and an outcomes oriented approach.

“Optimal physical health and function is achieved through physical therapy when the patient and clinician work together as a team. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing that smile on your patient’s face when they achieve their goals with physical therapy.”

Scott enjoys spending time with his family and friends, taking advantage of New England and all it has to offer through hiking, camping, skiing, golfing, and water skiing. He also enjoys traveling and trying new cuisine.
