The Landing YMCA Offering New Lunchtime Classes, Swing Dancing Lessons
Looking for something to do besides eating lunch at your desk during your noon time break? The Landing Y is now offering a couple of new lunchtime exercise classes.
And if you really want to get into the swing of things, sign up for Cynthia Symonds’ Swing Dance classes, which will be held Thursday evenings 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. April 14th to May 5th. Details below.
Lunch Fitness Classes
Total Body Training is offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday 12:00-12:45 and Cardio Crunch is offered Tuesday and Thursday 12:00-12:45. The class descriptions are below.
TBT – Total Body Training (Kelly LaFountain) This class will blend a variety of movements to give your entire body a good workout. Different levels for each exercise will be shown to allow all fitness levels to participate and get fit. The exercises will be performed in an interval format to really rev up your metabolism and provide a good cardio/strength workout. Many of the exercises will use your own body weight. To mix things up and keep it interesting and fun other tools will be used at times. Some tools will include dumbbells, resistance bands, and stability balls. There will be a warm-up and cool down in this class.
Cardio Crunch (Kelly LaFountain) This class will include a variety of cardio/agility movements shown at different intensity levels in an interval format with periods of active rest. Each class will also provide abdominal exercises to help you work your body to the core. All fitness levels are encouraged to participate in this calorie burning workout that will include a warm-up and cool down.
Swing Dance at the Landing Y
Come experience Swing Dancing for the first time or remember how to groove in your dancin shoes! We’ll lead you through the basics you’ll need to get out on the dance floor. Each night students will explore partner connection with a taste of East Coast Swing, Lindy Hop and Charleston.
No partners are necessary. Absolute Beginners and those with two left feet Welcome. Dancers should bring a change of shoes- hard soled or suede soled shoes work well. The 4 week classes will run from April 14th-May 5th on Thursday evenings from 6:15-7:15 p.m. The cost is $40 for Landing/Bath Y members and $60 for community members.
