Urban Renewal Under Way Again at Brunswick Landing
Work to remove obsolete buildings and clear the way for new redevelopment projects began last week at Brunswick Landing.
Three structures are slated to meet the wrecking ball over the next few weeks. Costello Dismantling of Wareham, Mass., is the demo contractor for this job.
First on the list is former Navy Building 252 at 49 Orion Street. This 5,100 SF building was used as an automotive repair garage by the Navy. Originally built in 1957, the building was in rough shape and unsuitable for redevelopment. Its demolition paves the way for a new parking lot for the airport and to accommodate Wayfair’s expected hiring surge, which will create up to 500 jobs.
The former Navy fire station (Building 292) is also being demolished.
